It was acquired by the Cyclotron Laboratory at the University of Louvain in 1969 and was used for data acquisition and processing. In the seventies, this PDP-8/L was maintained by Yvan Longrée and programmed by Jean Debaisieux (Ecole Royale Militaire). It was found in a pile of discarded computers, just before being trashed.

Alain Ninane and Yvan Longrée searched for any document or accessory left in their lab, related to the PDP-8/L.

Paul Thibaut, gave the SOROC terminal which he had transformed many years ago into a current loop terminal for driving a PDP-8/L and shared his experience in electronic repair.

Jan Dormaels, provided technical advices about the PDP-8, bought me a big roll of spare flat cable and offered his expertise in PDP-8/E electronics to try repairing the computer power supply. The PDP-8/L was eventually moved to his workshop for this repair. Alain Jacques joined the team to try fixing the problem of the power supply. Both Jan and Alain generously spent hours every Wednesday at lunch times on the problem.

Guy Schayes, shared his experience as a PDP-8 user early in his carreer and allowed me to examine his two PDP-8/E and ASR33 Teletype.

Jacques Lepage provided me with the complete sets of manuals about the ASR-33 Teletype, which was salvaged minutes before being trashed.

James Gonzalez, Megan, Jeff Katz, David Gesswein, Sergio Pedraja Cabo, Pavl Zachary and Douglas Wones went trough their files, prints, documents and PDP-8s to find out how to connect the BA0A memory expansion box to the PDP-8/L main box. This question was finally answered by Max Burnet, who provided the prints of the BA08A, a layout discribing the connexion between the BA08A expansion box and the PDP-8/L, the PDP-8/L user's handbook and one intact M903 flat cable. Max and Peter Groen helped with the missing plastic switches.

The schematics for the power supply and the G786 connector were also something difficult to find. André Heitz, Al Kossow, John Cushing searched in their collections. Robert Krten kindly looked in his documentation and was about to scan it for me when he remembered the link to Sebastian Brückner. Sebastian then uploaded the complete set of PDP-8/L prints on his Web site.

Tony Duell send me a very clear explanation about why electrolytic capacitors must be checked and "reformed" after a long iddle time.
